Sally Brophy - Photography on Metal

My photography on metal is infused right into the surface of a lightweight sheet of aluminum. The special sublimation process produces an incredible level of detail, depth and vibrancy. Sublimation is the process of going from a solid to a gas back to a solid, skipping the liquid state. The image is first printed on transfer paper which is then adhered to a pretreated aluminum. The aluminum and transfer paper are heated to more than 380 degrees, causing the dyes to turn into a gas and then solidify into the aluminum. When the dyes cool they are permanently infused into the metal making them extremely durable. The photograph is waterproof, able to hold up to high heat, and scratch resistant. They can be easily cleaned with a soft cloth and are archival, tested to last for decades.

Sally Brophy’s photography on metal is available in many sizes including 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, 16x24, 20x24, 30x40, 40x50 (all photos 30x40 or larger will be part of a limited edition of ten).
